Our promise – quality under inspect

The safety of our products is the most important thing for us. From purchasing policy over quality anagement, CO2 chamber and an own laboratory till sustainability, we set great value upon quality.

Purchasing Policy

Purchasing Policy

Quality

We buy our plants locally as well as from all over the world. How about ginkgo from China, devil’s claw from Namibia or sarsaparilla root from Mexico? Or what about peppermint or lemon balm, which are grown by local farmers?

By maintaining close ties to our suppliers and purchasing directly in the countries of origin, we are able to supply the best quality herbs, as well as very rare herbs.

Quality Management

Quality Management

One important part of the quality policy here at Heinrich Klenk is the rigorous supplier qualification and monitoring. In addition, all incoming goods are being analyzed, the results are entered in a database, and at the end of each year we create an analysis of trend. Only suppliers who consistently deliver reliable quality remain eligible. We also visit our associates regularly in order to monitor the local conditions.

In Schwebheim the dried herbs are tested in accordance to the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia. Vegetable raw materials which are not covered by the European Pharmacopoeia are examined according to the applicable Klenk specification. We supervise the storage of our raw materials and products. The protection of stored commodities is provided through an external provider. Each lot is fully traceable.

In the course of quality management, our staff is regularly trained in GMP-compliant behavior, work procedures and hygiene, and are medically examined. Cross-contamination can be avoided by precisely defined flow work as well as written predetermined cleaning methods and cleaning control when changing materials.

CO2 pressure treatment

The  protective treatment of stocks in herbal products is also one of our tasks. Here we work with the proven procedure, the CO2 pressure treatment. By by this procedure we ensure that all storage pests (insects, larvae or eggs) are destroyed. The process is absolutely harmless to health and is used for product and quality assurance.

Laboratory

The germ reduction of herbal products is also one of our areas of responsibility. Here we work with the tried and tested process, CO2 pressure treatment. By releasing the pressure, we ensure that all storage pests (insects, larvae or eggs) are destroyed. The process is absolutely harmless to health and serves to ensure product and quality assurance.

Laboratory

All of the tests we carry out are required by the pharmacopoeia, especially HPLC, gas chromatography, spectrophotometry, TLC and microscopic analysis. The AMWHV and GMP-guidelines are adhered to. As we operate our own in-house laboratories, we can react immediately to get all the necessary analytical results for a batch. This also enables us to meet specific customer requirements, such as a desired level of essential oils, and determine the appropriate batch.

Furthermore we carry out in-process inspections and draw up specifications and test procedures.

Scientifically qualified staff, regularly trained laboratory personnel, and the continuous calibration of all our analytical devices as well as quality control at the highest level of GMP also ensures the quality of our products.

Sustainability

Sustainability

We are constantly working to improve our ecological and economic environmental performance in order to secure living conditions for present and future generations.

We attach particular importance to the procurement of our raw materials in order to ensure a constant quality and concentration of active ingredients. We travel to the origin of the raw materials to assure the quality of the products, circumstances on site, methods of cultivation, and of course checking the working conditions on the premises in the countries of origin.

Essential parts of this are the GACP-guidelines, which describes for example the requirements for seeds and plants, irrigation and thinning or the use of pesticides. These guidelines serve to ensure a high and consistent quality of the plant material.
